Schoelkopf Gallery will present a dynamic selection of paintings, works on paper, and assemblage by leading American modern, post-war, and contemporary artists including Mary Abbott, Milton Avery, Romare Bearden, Thomas Hart Benton, Stuart Davis, Richard Estes, David Hammons, Keith Haring, Edward Hopper, Jacob Lawrence, John Marin, Alfred Maurer, Clifford Ross, and Bob Thompson.
These artists reinvented conventional genres such as portraiture, landscape, still life, and abstraction through new lenses, developing singular modes of expression within and alongside important 20th and 21st century movements including Abstract Expressionism, Color Field Painting, Conceptual Art, Photorealism, Pop Art, Realism, and Regionalism. Spanning the last century from 1907 to 2022, Schoelkopf Gallery's curated presentation investigates the artists' experiments with new materials, methods, and subject matter as they responded to rapidly evolving events and experiences.
