On view March 7 – April 25, 2025, Clifford Ross | What Remains... features new paintings that exemplify the artist’s tireless pursuit of abstraction in both traditional and new media. In 2021, Ross returned to painting as the primary focus of his practice, following decades of innovation and expanding creative possibilities within photography and video. Drawing inspiration from the work of 20th century American modernists, including Arthur Dove, Marsden Hartley and John Marin, his most recently painted works on view in What Remains respond directly to the enormities of our environment, our existence, and our emotional response to the changing world around us.
