Max Weber American, 1881-1961
45.7 x 61 cm
Yellow Pitcher (1955) serves as a prime example of Max Weber’s distinctive voice of the 1950s. In the early decades of the twentieth century, Weber transformed what had previously been regarded as a style unique to Europe’s avant-garde into an art form reflective of America’s growing cultural prominence on the world stage. During the last decade of his career, Cubism once again consumed his artistic output.
