Schoelkopf Gallery is pleased to announce exclusive representation of the accomplished American artist Mary Abbott (1921–2019) with a solo presentation at The Armory Show. A pivotal figure in Abstract Expressionism and the New York School, Abbott’s dynamic and emotive works have been celebrated for their bold exploration of color, form, and texture. Schoelkopf Gallery’s curated booth (207) at The Armory Show focuses on the 1950s and includes works executed using a broad range of materials and methods, including oil, charcoal, pastel, and collaged paintings and works on paper. While abstract in subject, many compositions are rooted in Abbott’s lived experience, such as her travels and her passion for nature. This presentation will mark the first in a series of robust programming dedicated to the artist, including a retrospective exhibition in 2025.
